Trailer Park Produces Viral Hit Trailer for Alex Stapleton Documentary

Monday, June 20, 2011

Trailer Park's Theatrical division recently produced the trailer for indie documentary Outside In: The Story of Art in the Streets.  Produced in collaboration with the Levi's Film Workshop (workshops.levi.com), the Alex Stapleton-directed doc chronicles The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA's Art in the Streets, the first major U.S. museum exhibition of the history of graffiti and street art, which runs through August 8, 2011.  The trailer debuted shortly before the film's premiere last month at Hollywood's Egyptian Theater and has nearly a half-million hits on YouTube.

Jonathan Wells, who Executive Produced Outside In: The Story of Art in the Streets', put the film trailer in the expert hands of Trailer Park Theatrical President Matt Brubaker. "Who better to craft an artistic trailer for a film about artists," Wells says. "Trailer Park has an amazing body of work in the entertainment marketing space, and we were thrilled they helped us spread the word about Alex's wonderful film and all the amazing artists who serendipitously came together under one roof for the exhibition."

Brubaker comments, "It was a pleasure to work on a trailer for this documentary! The exhibit at MOCA is both provocative and compelling, reaching realms as diverse as politics and pop culture, and the film of course follows suit. We saw a fun challenge helping to relay its story. And we were lucky to have a great editor in Ellie Speare who worked diligently with Jonathan, Danielle Hinde the film's producer, and myself to create the trailer."

The film features renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, Mister Cartoon, Revok, Martha Cooper and Invader, to note a few. Stapleton (Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel) documents the artist's creative process, complicated relationship with the law and the significance of having their craft-by definition impermanent-grace the walls of a well-respected museum.
